How many diapers will I need?
We will work with you to determine what size and quantity of diapers your little one will need. Typically we recommend 60 diapers per week to start for newborns. Once you have signed up for service, we will provide you with a pre-birth installation of diapers 1-2 weeks before your due date so that you will have diapers on hand when your baby does arrive. There is no extra charge for this convenience. We do not begin regular deliveries until you let us know that your baby has arrived and that you are ready for service.

When do you deliver and will I need to be home?
Your delivery day will be assigned when you sign up and you do not need to be home for your delivery. As the delivery time may vary depending on the driver’s schedule, please have your diapers outside your front or back door by 8:00am on your delivery day. We will pick up your soiled diapers and leave fresh ones for your baby. Each week you will receive a Tidy Tushees tag on your diaper bag. We ask that before you place your soiled diaper bag outside, you fill in the number of clean diapers, soakers and wipes you have left so that we can adjust your supply as needed. You will receive the same number of diapers, soakers and wipes back that you have left out unless you request otherwise. Ideally we like you to have no more than 6 diapers, soakers and wipes left on hand. Special arrangements are made for customers living in apartment buildings.

What should I do if I forgot to put out my soiled diapers?
The best solution to this is to get in the habit of putting your diapers out the night before (but make sure they are secure from animals and weather). Should you forget, we will knock first to see if you are home. We will still leave you clean diapers, but you should call us immediately as we may still be in your area. If not, we will work together with you to arrange a pick up/drop off location (additional fees may be charged if we have to return to pick up).

What should I do when I go on vacation?
When you know the dates of your vacation, please call our office. Credit will be given for the weeks you are on vacation as long as we are notified at least one week prior. We will work with you to arrange pick-up of all your diapers (cleaned and soiled) before you leave.

Who washes the diaper covers?
Unfortunately, we are unable to wash your covers due to the high temperatures required to thoroughly sanitize the diapers. When the covers are washed and dried with the diapers, the rubbery surface of the cover sticks to itself and the Velcro gets ruined. Therefore, you are responsible for purchasing and washing your own covers. The covers do not need to be washed at every diaper change unless the cover is soiled. Most of our customers have between 4-6 covers which they rotate through. During diaper changes, you will hang the recently used cover to dry/air out and put a fresh cover on the baby. When the covers get smelly or get soiled with poop, you can either hand wash them or toss them in with a regular load of laundry.

We have a wide variety of covers available for purchase. Visit the products section of our website for more information.

What should I use for wipes?
You can use reusable or disposable wipes, the choice is yours. You can now add the convenience of soft terry reusable wipes to your service for only $8.99 per month. This includes all the wipes you need as well as Wipes Cubes to make your own solution. This is a huge cost savings (not to mention a healthier option for your baby & the environment) over disposable wipes.

If you use disposable wipes, please do not put them in the pail with your diapers. Please discard them in your trash.

How do I control odours in my diaper pail?
Keeping a small diaper pail in the house and the larger bag in the garage (or wherever you keep your garbage) can really help. Tidy Tushees also sells a deodorizing spray called Bear Spray (made in Canada) that contains tea tree oil and natural enzymes that start to break down the smell right in your diaper pail. A few squirts in the pail every day makes a big difference. Another option is to put a few drops of your favourite essential oil on a cotton ball or square of flannel and tape it to the bottom of the lid. You can do the same and toss it in the bottom of the pail before you put in your new liner as well. Some to try are lavender, patchouli (works very well), tea tree, sweet orange, lemon or lemongrass. Giving the pail a good cleaning and allowing it to air dry can also help with odours. We also offer Pail Pals Deodorizers, convenient disks that fit in your Odourless Diaper Pail.

How do I pay for service and how often should I pay you?
Currently we accept cash, cheques, Visa, MasterCard, Amex, PayPal and email transfers as payment. We request that you pay for service on a monthly basis. Payment is due on the first delivery of the month for the upcoming month. Credit will be applied for vacations/holds as long as one week’s advance notice has been provided. SAVE: Pay for 26 weeks and receive a 5% discount on service. Pay for 52 weeks and receive a 10% discount on service.

Can I use diaper creams?
Please avoid any petroleum-based and/or “white” creams. Ointments and mineral-oil based creams leave residue on the diapers that hinders absorbency. White creams can leave a residue from fish-based oils that create strong odours which are difficult to remove and damage the diapers. Cloth diapered babies seldom get rashes. In the event of a rash, please use a cream that is not white and uses edible oils. Baby Bottom Better is available through Tidy Tushees. It is a soothing, petroleum-free diapering salve made with three contact healing herbs, and Calendula, an anti-fungal flower. This perfume free salve has excellent healing properties and helps keep baby's bottom dry by providing a barrier from moisture.
