Tidy Tushees is expanding from Penticton to Vernon starting Sept 1st!

We made the decision to cloth diaper our son before he was born. I had been allergic to disposables as a child and my husband Glenn and I weren’t comfortable with the possible risks associated with the plastics and chemicals in disposable diapers. Not to mention the environmental impact of all of those diapers in the landfill and the tonnes of untreated human waste being disposed of each year. I also didn’t think it was “that big of a deal” to cloth diaper. After all, our parents managed! I had friends tell me that I was crazy and that I would be lucky to last 2 weeks...well, almost 2 years later, I am proud to say that my son still wears cloth diapers!

When I was first researching the world of cloth diapers in preparation for Tyson’s birth, I was completely overwhelmed with the number of choices available. Gone were the days of pinning and folding and now there was a whole language of Fitted’s, AIO’s, Longies and Soakers! I didn’t know where to start and I couldn’t seem to find any local resources. In the end, my mom made 25 great cotton fitted diapers that we used with waterproof covers. I used a wet pail method and in general I was very happy with the whole process. Now, we use a variety of diapers (all products that we are proud to carry) and I no longer deal with the “diaper soup” of the wet pail method.

In April 2008, just as I was starting to make plans for the end of my Maternity Leave, I happened to come across a local Work-at-Home-Mom who was selling her business. Joanne and her family were making a move to Northern B.C. and were selling their Diaper Service, Mimi’s Bottoms. After a little bit of research, we decided to get into business! A mere month later, we were up and running and almost a year later, we are making plans to expand the service area and our product line.

Wherever possible, we carry Canadian made products and we are committed to supporting Work at Home Moms.

Our goal is to help families succeed with cloth diapering. Whether you choose to let us do the dirty work for you or you need help troubleshooting your cloth diapering system, we are here to work with you! Your baby’s Tushee will thank you, your pocket book will thank you and our world will benefit – what could be better?
