What will I receive each week?

Every week when we pick up your dirty diapers we will drop off your fresh clean ones. The diapers are dropped off in a water resistant bag. You will receive enough diapers to last you for the entire week. At no additional charge we can also provide you with additional soakers/liners that can be used for extra absorbency. These lay inside the diaper and provide an additional layer of absorbency for naptimes of extra heavy wetters. Some babies never use them, and some use them with every diaper change. Also in your bag will be cloth wipes (if you have signed up for wipe service).

What kind of diapers do you use?

Our service diapers are high quality, Canadian made product that are designed and manufactured for diaper services. They are super soft and absorbent and fit snuggly against babies skin to provide a trim look on babies bottom. They are made with an organic cotton outer shell with 5 layers of high absorbency hemp liner sewn in. With elastic legs and adjustable snap closures these diapers come in 5 sizes ranging from 3 lbs to 46 lbs. They are very easy to use. This is the absorbent part of the diaper that gets changed every time baby gets changed and that we wash and provide to you every week. Around the absorbent diaper is a waterproof cover that adds an extra layer of protection against messes.

Who washes the diaper covers?

The diaper covers (the waterproof layer) are yours to keep. We are unable to wash your covers due to the high temperatures required to thoroughly sanitize the diapers. When the covers are washed and dried with the diapers, the rubbery surface of the cover sticks to itself and the Velcro gets ruined. Therefore, you are responsible for purchasing and washing your own covers. The covers do not need to be washed at every diaper change unless the cover is soiled. Most of our customers have between 4-6 covers which they rotate through. During diaper changes, you will hang the recently used cover to dry/air out and put a fresh cover on the baby. When the covers get smelly or get soiled with poop, you can either hand wash them or toss them in with a regular load of laundry.

We have a wide variety of covers available for purchase. Visit the store section of our website for more information.

How many diapers do I receive?

We will work with you to determine what size and quantity of diapers your little one will need. Every baby is different and we will provide you with as many diapers as needed. Typically newborns are using between 70-90 diapers per week. There is no extra charge for using more diapers.

What should I use for wipes?

Tidy Tushees offers reusable cloth wipes that can be added to your service for only $1.99 per week for as many wipes as you need. They are delivered with your diapers and can be placed in the dirty diaper bag when used. If you use disposable wipes, please do not put them in the pail with your diapers. Please discard them in your trash.

When do you deliver and will I need to be home?

Your delivery day will be assigned when you sign up and you do not need to be home for your delivery. As the delivery time may vary depending on the driver’s schedule, please have your diapers outside your front or back door by 8:00am on your delivery day. We will pick up your soiled diapers and leave fresh ones for your baby. Each week you will receive a Tidy Tushees tag on your diaper bag. We ask that before you place your soiled diaper bag outside, you fill in the number of clean diapers, soakers and wipes (if applicable) you have left so that we can adjust your supply as needed. Special arrangements are made for customers living in apartment buildings.

What should I do if I forgot to put out my soiled diapers?

Should you forget, we will knock first to see if you are home. We will still leave you clean diapers, but you should call us immediately as we may still be in your area. If not, we will work together with you to arrange a pick up/drop off location (additional fees may be charged if we have to return to pick up).

What should I do when I go on vacation?

You are welcome to use the diaper while you are away on vacation. We can give you some great tips and tricks for cloth diapering away from the home. However, if you are going to be away and not using the cloth diapers credit will be given for the weeks you are on vacation as long as we are notified at least one week prior. We will work with you to arrange pick-up of all your diapers before you leave.

The diapers are going to stink aren’t they?

We are not going to lie to you, there is nothing that anyone can do to make any diaper smell great. However, cloth diapers are not going to smell any more than disposables. Our best recommendation is to purchase the odourless diaper pail. It is the best defense against dirty diaper odour. Most people will leave the diaper pail in their nursery or bathroom with no lingering odour.

How do I pay for service and how often should I pay you?

Diaper service is billed by the week and we will send out an invoice at the beginning of the month. Payment is due on the first delivery of the month for the upcoming month. Credits will be applied for vacations. We accept cash, cheques, Visa, MasterCard, PayPal, and EMTs as payment.

There is no required length of term contract but prepay for 6 months and receive 5% discount on Service. Prepay for 1 year and receive 10% discount on service.

Can I use diaper creams?

Please avoid any petroleum-based and/or “white” creams. Ointments and mineral-oil based creams leave residue on the diapers that hinders absorbency. White creams can leave a residue from fish-based oils that create strong odours which are difficult to remove and damage the diapers. Cloth diapered babies seldom get rashes. In the event of a rash, please use a cream that is not white and uses edible oils. Baby Bottom Better is available through Tidy Tushees. It is a soothing, petroleum-free diapering salve made with three contact healing herbs, and Calendula, an anti-fungal flower. This perfume free salve has excellent healing properties and helps keep baby’s bottom dry by providing a barrier from moisture.

How do you wash the diapers? Do they get clean?

Your diapers are washed in an industrial washing machine and dried in an industrial dryer, similar to what would be used in a hospital. We conform to industry standards to ensure that you are provided with the cleanest diapers possible. We use just enough detergents to ensure diaper cleanliness while being as gentle on babies skin as possible. The diapers are then sanitized again during the drying process to ensure the cleanest diapers possible are delivered every week.
